This program launched with the main objective of reviving the bond between Varanasi and Tamilnadu which were important centres of learning and culture in ancient India. The second phase of Kashi Tamil sangamam will include an 8-day immersive tour of Varanasi Prayagraj and Ayodhya. There are around 1400 people from Tamilnadu Puducherry who travel to the destination by train. Kashi Tamil Sangamam (KTS) Importance & Major Activities

We all know that Varanasi properly known as Kashi in Tamilnadu is one of the oldest living cities in the world. And these cities are famous for knowledge philosophy culture language literature art and craft.

Kashi Tamil sangamam is a one-month-long festival, is being organized by the Ministry of Education. IIT Madras through its website will select and send delegates to Varanasi in 12 groups of about 210 each. These groups will comprise students, artisans, literature, spiritual practitioners, business people, teachers, entrepreneurs, and those working in temples.

Varanasi Hindu University is hosting the Sangamam festival on its campus, and 12 seminars will be organized. Cultural programs will be held every evening throughout the month showcasing all the forms of arts from Tamilnadu. The exhibitions and sale stalls of all types of Handicrafts Handlooms and unique products of Tamilnadu and stalls of classical Tamil texts there will be also a Food Court workshop and book reading at the venue.
