Education Minister of Tripura State Ratan Lal Nath said that he has identified about 14608 students across the state which is in the final year. Along with this, a budget of Rs 7.30 crore has been made by the state government to provide smartphones to students and students pursuing their bachelor’s degrees from 38 government colleges and universities of the state. With this, he also said that the government will provide 5000 rupees to each eligible student for purchasing smartphones and this amount will be deposited directly in the bank accounts of the students.

Regarding the application process, the education minister said that applications will be filed through the IT platform developed by the Directorate of Information Technology and after successful registration, they will have to provide their personal information such as date of birth and Aadhaar number and bank account account number. With this, the Education Minister said that after purchasing the smartphone, every student will update their smartphone
